Core engineering and protocols for Long-Term Signature Preservation (LTA).
Real estate deeds, corporate merger agreements, and clinical trial records must remain legally valid for 30 to 70 years. If an electronic signature was created using RSA-2048 in 2020, an adversary with a quantum computer in 2035 could forge the signature and backdate the document. Long-term preservation is essential to prove that a document existed and was signed prior to algorithm compromise.
EIDASVault provides automated long-term preservation services (LPS) compliant with ETSI TS 119 511. It periodically encapsulates existing documents with fresh qualified timestamps signed using stateless hash-based signatures (FIPS 205 SLH-DSA), establishing unbroken cryptographic proof of legal validity spanning multiple decades.
